I am a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist with 14 years of experience. I have worked with a variety of patients with many different concerns over those 14 years. I am not like many therapists and have a unique style and personality. I may not be for everybody, however if I become your therapist I am passionate about helping you achieve what you want out of therapy. I am a very “down to earth” type of individual whom is often sarcastic and enjoys building a positive rapport with my patients. I work with my patients on moving forward and not allowing the past to keep them from enjoying their present. I work in a few different modalities, such as cognitive behavioral, art therapy, narrative therapy, solution focused, and attachment therapy. As a therapist, I expect that my patients are invested in their treatment and they desire to come and invest in themselves. I see therapy as collaborative experience and the relationship as team members working towards a goal. I often utilize humor with my patients. It is important to me that when someone is in treatment they feel comfortable, secure and safe in the environment to promote healing. I am often direct, however I am non-judgmental and am transparent. I do believe that in therapy you get out of it what you invest in it, so if you are not receiving any benefits than it would be wise to examine what you have invested versus assigning blame to the therapist. Therapy is work, it can feel refreshing to have a non-judgmental person listening, however it is important to not just gain awareness, but to also put new found knowledge into action to truly benefit from all that psychotherapy offers.
